Take Advantage of These Opportunities

The Monterey Marine Innovation Project (M2IP) is pleased to offer the Monterey Research Community three core seminars, with the appreciated assistance of volunteers from Life Science Angels, LP. These three seminars, presented by a panel of highly experienced experts, provide the tools required for a researcher/innovator to ascertain if their invention may be suitable for licensing or spin-out into a startup company. Other sessions planned involve "How I Did It" sessions with individuals or small panels of successful technology-to-market entrepreneurs.

Patents may be critical for commercializing a product, and look great on your CV, but many applications never issue, and many issued patents are worthless. Learn how to tell, and what you can do to improve your chances, from a panel with an experienced entrepreneur/inventor, and a noted patent attorney.

Does My Idea Have Commercial Potential?

Summer 2022
Great ideas can bring fame and recognition, but unless someone will buy the product when available, it will not become a commercial success. A panel of an experienced start-up investor and an experienced entrepreneur will discuss some tried and true methods for the inventor to get an initial read on this critical aspect.

The next question is "who can license the rights to a third party or to a start-up corporation?" Ownership is often complex and varies from institution to institution. A panel of an experienced entrepreneur and a licensing attorney/specialist explain the issue and discuss several common ways to resolve the situation.
